Ms. Dorian is pursuing her clinical doctorate in psychoanalysis in order to help individuals suffering from extreme states such as psychosis and "schizophrenia". Her interests in alternative treatments for psychosis began when she brought her three passions together - visual arts, meditation and psychodynamic group work. Through teaching meditation techniques combined with creative flow experience new therapeutic avenues were opened up for her patients on an intensive treatment unit. Samantha works as a program therapist in a hospital and is the founder of the future 501(c)(3) organization Sculpt Your Mind™.

New neuroscience research validates an approach to helping individuals manage extreme states by incorporating an awareness of embodied experience. The results of this research is rarely applied to patient treatment for those suffering extreme states such as hearing voices or having visions (otherwise called visual or auditory hallucinations). Ms. Dorian proposes combining this neuroscience research and mindfulness practices of focused awareness. These experiences in the production of visual art or movement of the body allow for the primed psychic apparatus to become malleable and ripe for change. These approaches have been on the margins of the alternative psychiatry movement for many years and are combined —for the first time - in the curriculum of Sculpt Your Mind™.

The future 501(c)(3)—Sculpt Your Mind™ requires only the desire to know one's own mind. It aims at integrating the embodied experiences of sense perception with the awareness of the here & now; bridging the meditative technique of concentration with group psychodynamics and interpersonal connection. The freedom of expression allows for agency as well as a new awareness of one’s specific uniqueness; stimulating neuropathic reconstructions through imagination & visual representations also allows space for new possibilities for positive sublimation & integration. Neural plasticity ranges from functional to structural and the possibilities for better care for this population are endless with the tools and curriculum created for Sculpt Your Mind™ by Samantha Dorian.
